Father’s Day Gift Idea- Toddler Painted Frame

I think this might be the cutest Father’s Day gift I’ve put together for my husband to date! I had the idea of getting him some framed pictures of himself with the girls to put up in his office at work but I also wanted them to feel fun and personalized by the kids. I decided that having them decorate the mat inside the frame would give a cleaner look than decorating the frame so it still looks appropriate in a professional setting.

I set each girl up (one at a time) with washable paint and some paintbrushes. They each picked their own colors and just went to town. My one year old struggled a bit on her own, painting in the empty center of the mat repeatedly so I helped her out by guiding her onto the mat and eventually had her drop the paint brush and just put her hand directly in the paint to make handprints instead. I think that’s a more realistic method for kiddos that young.

My 2.5 year old however loved using the paint brush herself and all I did was rotate the mat around so that she was encouraged to paint all sides of it.
